Townes Van Zandt Picture
Townes Van Zandt(1944-1997) was a singer-songwriter, born in Texasto a life on the road. Van Zandt was master of the small, intimate folkperformance, such as the July 1973 show that became Live At The Old Quarter Houston, Texas, the double album on Tomato Records. As the Austin Chroniclewrites of the re-released CD, "Alone with a guitar, he hushes the crowd with his visionary tunes that are by turns haunting and eccentric, yet filled with beauty and dark shadows." Despite chronic battles with alcoholism and depression, his songwriting displayed a sense of humour and introspection, truth and beauty. Many artists cite Townes' influence on their music, with covers of his songs recorded by the likes of Emmylou Harris, Lyle Lovett, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Guy Clark, Steve Earle, Jeffrey Foucault, Cowboy Junkies, The Be Good Tanyasand others. His son John T.

Hey Willie Boy Lyrics

Townes Van Zandt

By townes van zandt
Hey willie boy what you gonna do
When the wind blows cold
The moon turns blue
Build me a fire
Gonna dance and sing
A little bit of winter dont mean a thing
A little bit of winter dont mean a thing
Hey willie when the birds arrive
The flowers bloom
While the clouds float by
Tell my puppies
And my turtles and things
All gods children need a little spring
All gods children need a little spring
Hey willie boy where you gonna go
When the grass gets sticky
And the wind blows slow
Down to the river
Gonna jump right in
A little bit of summer cant be no sin
A little bit of summer cant be no sin
Hey willie how you gonna feel
When the leaves turn gold
Beneath your heels
Twirl and spin never gonna fall
Fallin just wont do at all
No that wouldnt do at all
Hey willie boy how you gonna feel
Hey willie boy where you gonna go
Hey willie boy what you gonna do
Its time to go to sleep right now
Its time to go to sleep right now
